Concluding Comments
Fortunes and misfortunes in rotation have had a grip in the chequered history of the college. From its inception up to the time it was converted to a mixed school, thanks to the governing capabilities of its founder, the college thrived well and student population rose to more than 2000 pupils. Owing to a national policy, the college was amalgamated into the free education scheme in 1960 and was able to consolidate the progress made up to that time. This favorable position showed a slight decline under government control till about 1965 and from their onwards had a decidedly downward trend. By 1997 the college fell in to an abyss with only nine students remaining on the roll. It literally became a hunting ground of ghosts in the absence of humans to occupy it. It is at this stage that a band of indefatigable past pupils skillfully planned the restoration of the college which led to its subsequent re-opening. Prince College has now risen from the ashes with renewed life like the mythical phoenix. May the Thrividarathne be a beacon of light in guiding the destiny of this renewed institution.
